Frequently Asked Questions

Installation FAQs

Can I install a wall-hung vanity on any type of wall?
Wall-hung vanities must be securely fixed to a load-bearing wall or a wall with adequate structural reinforcement. Installation on plasterboard alone is not recommended without suitable backing. Always consult your builder or installer to ensure the wall can support the weight of the vanity.
Do tallboys, laundry cabinets, and similar items need to be fixed to the wall?
Yes. All tallboys, laundry cabinets, and similar items must be securely fixed to the wall to prevent toppling, which can cause serious injury.
How high should I install my vanity or shaving cabinet?
Installation height is generally based on personal preference and ergonomic comfort. As a guide, the top of the basin is typically installed at around 850–900mm from the finished floor level. Shaving cabinets are usually positioned at eye level, but make sure to align with any plumbing points and consider user height for accessibility.
Can plumbing interfere with drawer function?
Yes. Internal plumbing that is not carefully positioned can obstruct drawer operation. Ensure the plumbing is planned and installed to avoid interfering with internal drawer space. Consult your installer or plumber before finalising placement.
Can I cut into the cabinet to accommodate plumbing?
Yes, but cuts should be minimal and made carefully to avoid weakening structural support or voiding warranty. Always consult installation guidelines before making modifications.
What do I need to consider when installing a vanity with a stone top?
Stone tops are heavy and fragile—always handle with care. Ensure the cabinet is level and properly supported before placing the top. Use a neutral-cure silicone to fix the top in place and avoid excessive pressure during installation to prevent cracks. Do not overtighten tapware or waste fittings.
Why don't the vanity drawers align or sit properly after installation?
There are a few common reasons why vanity drawers may not align or sit correctly after installation; The drawers are pre-fitted to specific positions at the factory— if they are accidentally swapped during installation, this can cause misalignment or uneven gaps. Always ensure each drawer is returned to its original position; The wall surface where the cabinet is mounted can affect alignment. If the wall is not flat or level, the cabinet may not sit correctly, impacting drawer function. In these cases, the installer may need to pack out the back of the cabinet to achieve a flush, level installation. We recommend reviewing the installation instructions for drawer alignment adjustments. If issues persist, please contact our customer support team for further guidance. Installation Guide.
My shaving cabinet door is not aligned.
If your shaving cabinet door isn’t aligned, the hinges may need adjustment. This is a normal part of installation, as the weight and placement of the door can shift slightly over time. In many cases, doors are removed and reinstalled during installation, which can also affect alignment and require readjustment. We recommend referring to the installation instructions for detailed guidance on how to adjust the hinges. Proper alignment ensures smooth operation and helps extend the life of your cabinet.
LED shaving cabinet has power but the light isn't on. What do I do?
If the LED light is not turning on despite power being supplied, it's possible that a connection may have become loose during transit or installation. We recommend having a qualified electrician check that all the connections are properly secured, especially the wiring to the LED light. This is a common issue that can occur when components shift during transport or installation. Detailed instructions on how to check and secure the connections can be found in the installation guide. If the issue persists after confirming the connections, please contact our customer support team for further assistance.

Design FAQs

Why doesn’t my white vanity match the ceramic basin or stone top?
Slight variations in colour and finish are normal between materials like ceramic, stone, and painted or laminated cabinetry. Differences in how each surface reflects light can make them appear mismatched, even though they are designed to complement each other. These variations do not affect quality or performance.
Why are there small variations in pattern or grain on my stone top?
Our stone tops are made using engineered stone, which includes natural stone elements. As a result, subtle differences in pattern, veining, or grain are to be expected. These variations are part of the material’s character and contribute to a more natural, authentic look.
Can I mix and match different Otti vanities, basins, and tapware?
Yes. Our products are designed with complementary finishes and proportions to give you design flexibility. However, we always recommend checking dimensions, colour tones, and fitting compatibility before purchasing to ensure a cohesive final look.
Why do colours or finishes look different at home than in-store?
Lighting conditions significantly affect how colours and finishes appear. Natural light, artificial lighting (warm vs. cool), and surrounding materials like tiles or wall colour can all alter the perceived tone of a product. We recommend viewing samples in your actual space when possible.
How do I choose the right size vanity or cabinet?
Start by measuring your available wall space and considering user needs (e.g. storage, basin style, number of users). Wall-hung vanities are great for creating a more open feel, while floor-standing models provide more storage. Don’t forget to allow clearance for doors, drawers, and plumbing access.
Can I customise the handles or finishes on my vanity?
Some vanities offer customisable handles or finishes, but not all models. Check product specifications or ask your supplier about compatible options. Swapping handles is a simple way to personalise your space but ensure replacements do not interfere with functionality.

Cleaning & Care FAQs

What cleaning products should I use on Otti products?
Use mild cleaners and soft cloths only. Avoid bleach, abrasives, acidic sprays, or scouring pads.
How do I clean ceramic basins, stone tops, and vanities?
  • Ceramic basins: Clean with mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasives. Dry after use to prevent water spots.
  • Stone tops: Wipe spills immediately to avoid staining. Use a stone-safe cleaner. For tougher marks, try a baking soda paste. Some stains may be permanent—consult a stone care specialist if needed.
  • Vanities: Wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid water pooling to prevent swelling or damage.
How can I prevent water spots or silicone residue?
To minimise water spots, we recommend wiping down products with a soft, dry cloth after use—especially in areas with hard water. Regular cleaning with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner also helps maintain the finish. When applying silicone, use a neutral-cure product sparingly and wipe away any excess immediately with a clean cloth. Avoid acidic or strong chemical cleaners as they can react with silicone and cause staining or residue.
Why is my stainless-steel sink rusting?
While 304 stainless steel is rust-resistant, rust marks can appear due to harsh chemicals, mineral deposits, or residue left to sit. Clean regularly with mild soap and dry after use. For rust marks, use a stainless-steel cleaner or gently scrub with a metal scouring pad in circular motions. Avoid leaving acidic substances in the sink.
How do I clean my mirrors and prevent edge corrosion?
Use a gentle glass cleaner sprayed onto a microfiber cloth (not directly onto the mirror). Wipe in circular motions and dry immediately to prevent moisture seeping into the edges. Avoid harsh chemicals. Ensure your bathroom is well-ventilated to reduce humidity. For added protection, apply an anti-corrosion sealant around the mirror edges.
Why is my LED mirror fogging up even though it has a demister?
Demisters reduce condensation but don't eliminate it completely, especially in very steamy environments. Ensure the mirror is turned on before or early during a shower for best results.
My LED mirror or shaving cabinet isn’t responding—should I try switching it off at the wall?
